I was asked by a ConnectWise Partner, Rex Frank, to participate in a noble effort to help Footprints of Flight and their pursuit of helping families of childhood cancer. Footprints of Fight offers services free of charge to families in Washington that are starting or in the midst of pediatric cancer treatment. Our goal is to provide services such as housecleaning, gas cards, grocery cards, child care, and more to help alleviate the stress of the family so the main focus can be on increasing the health of their child. We provide services throughout the child’s treatment and in turn we aim to provide hope, strength, and comfort to the family.
Footprints of Flight believes it is critical to consider the child with cancer within the context of the family. Because family members’ reactions to pediatric cancer often move along a continuum of post-traumatic stress symptoms that range from normative, acute stress reactions to longer-term, impairing reactions we work to focus on the family as a whole. In some cases, family members’ psychological distress can be as severe as that of the patient. Childhood cancer is the #1 disease killer of America’s children. Since 2010, there has been an average of 341 new pediatric cancer incidences annually in the state of Washington with treatment ranging anywhere from 3 months to 3 years. Footprints of Fight focuses on providing services to families during this time to reduce their everyday stresses so they can focus on their child and provide them the strength to Beat Cancer!
