$720 goal

"AYPAL started in 1998 in response to increasing gang activity, truancy, and substance abuse issues among low-income Asian and Pacific Islander (API) youth.  The project was also formed to address the marginalization of API youth voices in the burgeoning bay area youth movement."

As an Oakland native and AYPAL alumni, I want to give back to the program that has helped me become a social worker in the heart of Chinatown Oakland, CA. My goal for the fundraiser is to role model and to encourage our youth to practice self care and to know it is okay to take up space in either people's hearts or fun inside/outside activities. With self care anything can be easier to manage,  either through their academics, advocating for social reform,  or climbing a 15-foot wall!

I will be leading and teaching the youth along with my amazing long time friend Donna Salonga (Skyline High School Teacher and experienced indoor climber).

Expenses:

Roundtrip Bart and Bus to and from Oakland Chinatown to Dogpatch Bouldering Gym: $14 × 18 =$250 ( Still seeking affordable transportation)

Evening snacks (Energy for their first climb) : $50

Dogpatch Bouldering Day Pass + Rental Gear: $15 x 12 Interns = $180

Dogpatch Bouldering Day Pass + Rental Gear: $15 x 4 Senior Interns Coordinators = $60

Dogpatch Bouldering Day Pass + Rental Gear: $15 x 2 Adult AYPAL Coordinators = $30

Dinner at Longbridge pizza = $150
