Dear Family and Friends:

I’m going on my 21st medical mission trip to Tegucigalpa, Honduras with a volunteer, humanitarian organization called Operation Rainbow. We’ll be doing free orthopedic surgery on medically underserved children. Our team is composed of health care providers and support staff volunteering to provide the surgeries. We bring all our own surgical equipment, medical supplies, medications, orthopedic devices, etc so we won’t burden the local hospital.

Some of the cases we treat are deformities such as clubfeet, hip dysplasia, “Brittle bone disease”, infected fractures and tendon releases on children with cerebral palsy. Many of these surgeries are life altering for these children as it enables the child to become more mobile and to be able to walk.  Part of our mission also includes education of the local physicians and nurses. This ensures that the quality of health care improves in the community. They can continue the work we’ve started. The local orthopedic surgeon does the follow up on the patients after we leave and he stays in contact with our own surgeons.

We are dependent on the generosity of donors and grants, as we receive no federal funding. Please consider sponsoring our team by making a donation to support these wonderful people of Central America.  Our trip costs $50, 000 to $60,000 each.  This will go directly to enhancing the quality of life for many children whom would otherwise not receive this care.

Any amount is greatly appreciated. Your gifts are 100% tax deductible as we are a nonprofit  (501) (C) organization.
