As a former special education teacher, this fundraiser is near and dear to my heart!
I am helping Ohio Valley Education Foundation (OVEF) raise funds for students in the Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program. This program provides services designed to make a difference and be an early start at job exploration for students ages 14-21 with disabilities when making the transition to post-secondary education and/or employment. Every Pre-ETS student faces some type of disability including, but not limited to Down Syndrome, Autism, or visual impairment.
One of the biggest services Pre-ETS offers is “work-based” learning field trips and internships. These opportunities allow disabled students to find their interests and passions while also gaining valuable experience in many different career paths. Through these internships, we hope that students can be set up for long-term success in life after high school.
Unfortunately, some more exceptional need students have not been able to participate. The Pre-ETS program currently does not have a reliable wheelchair-accessible vehicle to take them between school and work-study sites. Please consider donating today to ensure every Pre-ETS student receives equal opportunities for their future. A gift today is a gift for a student’s future success. They need your help!
