The need for recovery housing in Rhode Island has surpassed capacity. There is currently a waiting list containing hundreds of names of people struggling with addiction who are requesting to move into a safe, sober environment.

Oxford House is a peer run, democratic model of recovery housing that exists in 48 other states, totaling over 2,500 houses. It has become an evidence-based practice over the past 44 years, and continues to save lives every day. On November 1st, 2019 Rhode Island will finally become the 49th state to have an Oxford House!

The average cost in a standard recovery house is $140/week. The average equal shared expenses in the first Oxford House will be $95/week. With 8 residents, this totals a savings of $360/week, or $18,720/year! This makes recovery housing more accessible and sustainable, as well as making for happy residents!

Unfortunately, the first house will be for men only.  In R.I., there are currently 35 recovery houses for men and only 9 for women.  The need for women's recovery housing has never been greater.

Access To Recovery is a nonprofit organization serving as the financial backbone to Oxford House. The initial cost to open an Oxford House is over $6,000. We are seeking help from the community to raise $3,000 for an Oxford House for Women in Rhode Island, and ATR will match all donations to total the needed amount of $6,000.

All donations are tax deductible, as Access To Recovery Inc is a 501c3 nonprofit public charity. We hope you are able to contribute to this cause, which will surely result in saving the lives of many women who struggle with the misuse of drugs and alcohol in the state of Rhode Island.
