Every winter, TNYA uses the national USMS One-Hour Swim competition as an occasion to raise money for charities that do important work to support the LGBTQ+ community.  We compete to see how far we can swim in an hour, and get pledges and donations. This began at the height of the AIDS crisis, to raise money for medical bills for members of our team fighting the disease; now we work to spread the good will around. You can read below about this year's outstanding causes.

Contributions of any amount are wonderful and do a lot of good. This year, every $50 you donate earns you an entry in a raffle for two round-trip tickets on JetBlue, between any two destinations the airline serves. (Flights become available one to two months after our February 15th and 29th swims at Trinity School.) So donate a lot and increase your chances!

This year we’re raising money for two wonderful and highly deserving LGBTQ+ organizations:

  • The Alliance for Positive Change, formerly the AIDS Service Center NYC, helps New Yorkers living with HIV and other chronic health conditions get the medical care, peer support, and housing assistance they need to achieve health, happiness, and stability.
  • The New York LGBT Bar Association provides free legal services to more than 1,000 low-income and vulnerable LGBTQ+ New Yorkers annually, with clients ranging from homeless youth to senior citizens on issues including housing, employment, discrimination, family law, and more.
