As a central community advocate and agency in South Dallas, we typically reach approximately 11,830 annually. Fortunately, through our recent COVID-19 efforts, we are currently serving over 460 people/week, and projecting 1,840 people/month. Our monthly reach is currently 15% our annual reach (compared to a previous 8%). While we are committed to growing and adapting our center to meet emerging needs, our organization is in need of support to maintain our center while we continue to operate during COVID-19. Although we are not able to operate the same way, we are continuing to fulfill the needs of our community by:

Keeping our most vulnerable population safe by providing healthy grocery boxes and recipes to prepare the food.  While doing so, we are not only providing an alternative to grocery stores, which we don’t have in our neighborhood (Food Desert) but also restricting the chance of contracting other health complications that could lead to more intense COVID-19 cases.

Our COVID -19 program alleviates the need for food and personal care items due to job loss, lack of availability, and lack of transportation and technology by providing personal care items  to the community through our drive-thru service.

Supplying the resources our residents need in order to have access to federal programs, online services, and online supplemental instruction for our youth program through the distribution of hotspots and online curriculum. Our summer program will be held online until it is safe for our program to meet as a collective again.

Our board is enthusiastic about this our COVID-19 program and eager to continue our efforts to meet the needs of the Ideal Neighborhood community.  We have already seen a great number of people drive through our efforts, but we often run out of supplies and cannot feed every family that is in need.
