Meet Evelynn!

Meet Evelynn! Evelynn is a Brownie with Girl Scouts of Historic Gerogia and received the Medal of Honor for rescuing her baby brother!

The following was writen by her father:
"On Mother's Day we were at my parents house. They have a pool and I was letting the kids dip their feet in. As in every noteworthy pool nightmare story, "I turned my back for one second", to speak to someone who was deciding to leave, and I hear the splash.

 Immediately, I hear Evelynn yell her brother's name, and as I turn around I see Evelynn jumping in. He is face down and drifting further out from the edge of the pool. Before I can get over to him to do anything, she has grabbed him by the waist and is pulling him to the steps where she/we can better grab him up and pull him out. 

"Her split second critical thinking and her willingness to provide immediate action is what likely resulted in saving her younger brother's life. I am grateful in part, for what Girl Scouts has done, in building her confidence and abilities to take action and apply life saving skills. Had she not been so decisive, this Mother's Day may have gone a totally different way." 

We are so proud of Evelynn for her quick thinking and action during such a scary moment!
