It’s no secret that we’re passionate about the dogs and cats at Saint Louis County Animal Care & Control. It’s our second home. We look forward to our weekends there walking dogs and taking photos/videos of the animals to market them so they can more quickly find their forever homes.
Due to COVID-19 the shelter is no longer doing adoptions, yet they continue to receive animals daily. In order to leave the shelter, the dogs and cats need rescues, who can still do adoptions, to pull them. The challenge is that it costs rescues $250+ to pull a single, healthy animal from animal control because they must spay or neuter the animal and provide vaccinations. If the animal has medical issues, such as requiring heartworm treatments, then the cost is $600+ per animal.
This is where St. Louis County S.A.V.E. provides help. S.A.V.E is a 501c(3) non-profit whose mission is to improve the quality of life for animals in STL County and lower the euthanasia rate to as close to zero as possible. To accomplish that mission, S.A.V.E. needs your help raising funds for:
- treating heartworm positive dogs, an expense otherwise placed on adopters or rescues. S.A.V.E. provides a $500 sponsorship per dog;
- specialty vet visits for more difficult medical issues;
- financial sponsorship to encourage rescues to pull dogs from the shelter, which is especially important since there are no adoptions during COVID-19;
- enrichment items such as Benebones and toys to improve the lives of the animals while at the shelter.
Please help us help the dogs and cat at animal control by donating to our House Pawty Campaign, which will aid us in meeting our overall team goal of raising $2,500. Your donation is more important than ever during this time when County’s doors are closed to adopters and the animals have to rely on fosters and rescues. If you can’t donate, then please share my campaign.
Thank you!
