The facts: According to UNICEF and the World Bank, 130 million girls are currently not in school and "are denied an education, told who and when to marry, and blocked from leadership. Educated and respected girls are the exception, not the norm."
The mission:
She's the First is a national, 501c3 nonprofit that fights gender inequality through education. At She's the First, we raise money for girls in low-income countries who will be the first in their families to graduate from secondary school, so that they may have the chance to define their own futures.
I first joined the University of Michigan's chapter of She's the First when I was a freshman. Over the last two years, I've had the privilege of working with some of the most inspiring women and men who have chosen to pour their passion for fighting global gender inequality into She's the First. At She's the First, we typically host a variety of fundraisers throughout the school year such as bake sales, restaurant partnerships, and succulent sales. However, because we are unable to host our typical fundraising events due to COVID-19 concerns, we have moved to virtual fundraising! That is why today I am asking that you please contribute any sum of money that can be used towards our mission of putting girls through secondary school. Any donation amount can make a huge impact, and change the trajectory of a young woman's future. Donations can also be sent to my Venmo: Daniela-Kabeth with the subject line, "She's the First Fundraiser". Thank you!
About me: I am currently a junior at the University of Michigan studying economics and PPE (philosophy, politics and economics). My #1 goal in life is to help other people, and I hope to pursue a career that allows me to do just that. In my free time I like to making espresso drinks, run, take care of my plants, hang out with friends, make Youtube videos, and journal. Fun fact: I have an extra vertebrae.
