Why We Are Fundraising

Fall Season 2020 is like none other for our athletes  and community.   Schools started late, distance and hybrid learning is the new norm, and many fall sports are delayed until spring. During the summer months when it became clear that there were significant challenges to holding any kind of Fall season, the AB coaches, board and community worked hard to find a way to give our team a Fall season on the water.  Many hours of research and planning ensued and it was evident that the only path to a season on the water was to purchase single sculls and some doubles. We are so fortunate we were able to give our  athletes a season on the water, a bit of what we have all come enjoy in fall, along with the turning of the leaves and so much more.  

To do this AB Crew financed the boats and used money in reserves to help with the  initial down payments and transportation costs. This money in reserves comes from athletes who rowed in previous seasons and paid-it-forward for athletes today.  Every boat AB Crew athletes row in is paid for by the rowers who came before them.  It's our turn to pay-it-forward, the total cost of the boats is $36,000.  We have fixed operating costs of rent for our erg room, salaries, insurance, scholarships, gas for boats, to name a few.  To ensure our financial stability as we look ahead, we are asking each athlete to raise  a minimum of $200 in charitable contributions to pay for the boats.

Your Donation Will Help Unlock a Match of $5k & Give You a Chance at Naming a Boat!

How it works: A generous Board member has put up a $5,000 match that will be unlocked when each rower has met their goal and the team will name one of the new boats and every donor will be put in a raffle to be selected to submit a name for a boat to be voted on by the athletes!

About Arlington Belmont Crew Inc

Arlington-Belmont Crew promotes an appreciation for the sport of rowing in an environment that teaches teamwork, sportsmanship, and athleticism through competitive and recreational opportunities.

Arlington-Belmont Crew is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with approximately 100 athletes, governed by a volunteer board of directors and supported by parents and the local community. The team is open to students from Belmont High School and Arlington High School. The team supports all students wanting to participate and offers financial aid.

The program includes skill building, physical conditioning, and the introduction to competitive rowing.

Arlington-Belmont Crew is self funded and receives no funding from the towns of Arlington or Belmont.
