We are calling on you to support a group of South Suburban workers fighting back against discrimination and wage theft!
Last week, seven Latinx workers were unjustly terminated by Alpha Building Maintenance Services Inc. after standing up for their rights. These workers have worked many years to keep South Holland School District 151 schools clean.
Over the past five years, workers have organized against ongoing labor abuses, including wage theft. The company has robbed workers of their salaries by missing entire pay checks, expecting them to work through their unpaid breaks, not compensating them for working at additional sites (such as Pace buses), and more.
Recently, these workers were discriminated against and harassed to fill out forms long after the statutory mandate to fill one out had passed. Only Latinx workers were targeted by their employer to sign these forms.
When these seven workers organized and defended their rights and the rights of their colleagues, they were terminated by the company. Please show your solidarity for this strong and unified group of workers who need our support!
The sudden loss of a job can be a huge blow for a family. We are raising funds to support workers through this tough situation, abruptly and unfairly finding themselves without work.

¡Apoya un grupo de trabajadores en los suburbios sur de Chicago que luchan contra la discriminación y robo de salarios en el trabajo!
La semana pasada, siete trabajadores Latinos fueron despedidos injustamente por Alpha Building Maintenance Services Inc. luego de defender sus derechos. Estos trabajadores han trabajado muchos años manteniendo limpias las escuelas del Distrito Escolar de South Holland 151.
En los últimos cinco años, los trabajadores se han organizado varias veces en contra de abusos laborales, incluyendo robo de salarios. La compañía les ha robado a los trabajadores sus salarios: negándoles cheques completos, esperando que trabajen en sus sus breaks sin pago, no compensándolos por trabajar en sitios adicionales (como los autobuses Pace), y más.
Recientemente, estos trabajadores fueron discriminados y acosados para llenar formas, mucho después de que hubiera pasado el mandato legal para completar las formas. Solamente trabajadores Latinos fueron señalados por su empleador para firmar estos formularios.
Cuando estos siete trabajadores organizaron y defendieron sus derechos y los derechos de sus colegas, fueron despedidos por la empresa. ¡Muestre su solidaridad con este grupo de trabajadores fuertes y unidos que necesitan nuestro apoyo!
La pérdida repentina de un trabajo puede ser un gran golpe para una familia. Estamos recaudando fondos para apoyar a los trabajadores en esta difícil situación, de repente e injustamente encontrándose sin trabajo.
