MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Since 1983, Advocates for Children has been caring for children and families who have been impacted by child abuse and neglect. For over 38 years, our organization has expanded to serve 11 counties in North Georgia through an umbrella of programs that provide direct services to children and youth, as well as supportive services to parents, non-offending caregivers, and families.

We offer ten programs of intervention and prevention services, addressing risk factors such as poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, and domestic violence. In 2024, we are serving over 15,000 people and earned accreditation by the Council on Accreditation (COA) for best-practice standards in the field of human services.

Michael's Challenge

Meet Michael. He is in school.  Sleeps in his car.  Urgently needs your help this Giving Tuesday.

Michael is determined to be independent and out of the system.  Generational poverty has made his life rough.  He can graduate in five months.  He doesn’t talk about it at school, but he isn’t able to live at home. Not many know that he sleeps in his car or occasionally stays with friends for a few days at a time.  He is a good kid, but he is living on the edge.

Michael is why Advocates for Children is creating a new Drop-In Center at our Newman House.  Hundreds in our communities are like Michael, and our mission is to help them.  Newman House will be home to 14 full-time residents. But we have created a side door for our Drop-In Center where young teens can have access to critical transitional services like showers, meals, computers for homework and job applications, laundry facilities, and social services to help them get housed and succeed.

This Giving Tuesday, your generous donation to the Advocates for Children Drop-In Center will assist Michael and many more like him as they pursue a stable and independent future. We can’t imagine how difficult Michael’s life is, but we can imagine how Advocates can change it with your help.
