This May, celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by supporting KCCEB’s mental health prevention and early intervention services!
The nimble and knowledgeable staff at KCCEB is always ready to meet our community where they are to address their mental health needs with cultural resonance and understanding. Here's what we accomplished in 2023:
The unprecedented challenges of the past few years created opportunities for innovative ways to foster community safety and collective well-being. However, recent changes to government policy means drastic cuts to funding for mental health prevention and early intervention programs; the culturally-specific programs that community members like JR depend on.
JR started counseling due to family conflict and school-related stress. Upon closing their case, they shared:
“I feel seen and heard, and the fact that someone listens to me makes me happy. My mental health has gotten better since receiving KCCEB’s counseling services. My advice to others is to always share what you are feeling. The more you hide, the harder it is for the counselor to help you and understand your situation.”
Here are some ways KCCEB bridges the gap in affirming care for individuals facing systemic barriers to mental health care through preventative and early intervention programs:
Your support this Give in May will ensure that limited-English proficient and low-income AAPI individuals can continue to access culturally responsive and affirming mental health care services.
