Hello Friends!

The Akalonu Family invites you to join us on Friday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. for a few rounds of BINGO in support of individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC.

Please make a personally meaningful gift (that means...a gift of any size works!) in support of our goal to be added to the guest list. Please RSVP no later than Wednesday, September 16. We will then send out a Zoom link and your own unique BINGO card in advance of game time.

The Akalonu Family is hosting our first ever virtual family BINGO night to benefit Everyone Home DC, where Kate works as the Director of Strategic Initiatives, Maya volunteers with the HART Street Outreach team, and Zola runs the halls of HQ. Everyone Home DC believes that when everyone has access to a safe, affordable, and comfortable home, we can all thrive. Everyone Home DC's life-changing housing solutions and supportive services for individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness are critical in normal times. But in response to the global health pandemic, Everyone Home DC has become a lifeline for people in our city who are feeling far more exposed to the harshness of this new reality.

The current global health pandemic has forced the cancellation of Everyone Home DC's signature fundraising event, Sip and Savor, which was expected to raise $100,000 in essential program funds on September 26. This year Everyone Home DC is getting creative in finding ways to make up the funds lost from not hosting Sip and Savor by launching the September Challenge--a month long digital campaign consisting of a variety of fundraising initiatives (like Family Bingo!) So I am joining Everyone Home DC's September Challenge to help close this funding gap as Everyone Home DC continues to reimagine how to provide supportive services and timely and critical resources to individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness in our city.

Your personally meaningful gift will also be supporting my Everyone Home DC September Challenge team TEAM SHIRLEY'S PLACE & STREET OUTREACH in hopefully winning a little friendly staff fundraising competition (winners get a day off and some other fun incentives!)
