On September 13, I’ll be taking on my second 30-mile channel crossing from Catalina Island to Newport Beach—a powerful and deeply personal journey in honor of Ben Carlson. Ben was not only a beloved Newport Beach lifeguard, but a true symbol of bravery, sacrifice, and leadership in the water and in life. The Ben 10 Channel Crossing is more than a paddle—it’s a living tribute to his legacy and a commitment to carrying his spirit across every mile of that ocean.
This is the 10th year and every year this paddle has purpose. We’re raising funds for the Ben Carlson Foundation, supporting critical water safety programs and scholarships for aspiring lifeguards. These efforts ensure that Ben’s legacy of protecting others lives on through the next generation. I’m honored to paddle in his name, to push through the miles, and to help empower young lifesavers with the resources they need. This is for Ben—and for every life that will be touched because he chose to serve.
Every stroke across that channel is a tribute to Ben Carlson’s legacy—his courage, his service, and his unwavering commitment to saving others. By supporting the Ben Did Go 10.0 Channel Crossing, you’re not just honoring a hero—you’re helping fund lifesaving scholarships and water safety programs that will empower the next generation of protectors. Please consider donating to help us carry Ben’s mission forward, mile by mile, heart to heart. Together, we can make waves that matter.
