Transplant Type: Living Kidney Donor

Amy and Juli met several years ago and became great friends, although they now live across the country from each other. When Juli’s husband, Fred, posted on Facebook about Juli’s kidney disease and her need for a kidney, Amy knew she needed to help if she could. She discussed it with her husband, Richard, and began the testing process. Their two teenage sons, who love Juli and her family, are fully supportive of their mom’s selfless act. Amy considers it a true blessing that she can help. Amy’s father also suffered from kidney disease, which was a factor in his death. She considers being a living kidney donor a way to honor him as well.

Unfortunately, Amy’s gift of life doesn’t come without its struggles. While the medical costs related to Amy’s donation are covered by Juli’s insurance, she will still feel a financial impact. Amy will be away from home for approximately two weeks, as the transplant center is more than 2,000 miles away. She and her family will incur major travel, food, and lodging expenses.

In spite of the financial obstacles, once the transplant has taken place and she recovers, Amy looks forward to getting back to all the things she loves best; family, friends, and long walks in the woods, all with a new perspective on life.

Consider helping someone who is giving the greatest gift of all—life. The National Foundation for Transplants (NFT) is working with volunteers and supporters to help with Amy’s expenses. NFT has been assisting transplant patients and their families with fundraising support for more than 35 years. Your gift of any amount will enable NFT to provide Amy with the financial support she needs.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Amy. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Utah Transplant Fund, 3249 W Sarazens Cir, Ste 100, Memphis, TN  38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Amy Troop” on the memo line.Thank you for your generosity!
