Artistic Noise has been empowering youth through art and community for over 20 years! Join me in supporting this essential organization by donating $20 to their 20for20 campaign.
At this crucial moment in history, we are reminded why the work of Artistic Noise is so important, and how we can all Meet the Moment to push for social justice and equality. Community and grassroots support is the lifeblood of this organization; and a donation of just $20 will truly make a lasting impact on the lives of young people.
Artistic Noise exists to bring the power of artistic practice to young people who are involved in the justice system and from our surrounding communities.
Who We Are
Artistic Noise is a Harlem-based nonprofit organization made up of artists, educators, activists, licensed art therapists, community members, and many gifted young people. Founded in 2001 by a lawyer, a teaching artist, and a formerly incarcerated young woman, Artistic Noise was born out of the need to support young people as they returned home to their communities. Our youth artists are passionate, creative, and full of potential and we believe the practice of making art offers opportunities for young people and communities to transform. After 20 years of programming, Artistic Noise remains committed to pushing the social justice movement forward while empowering youth through art and community.
What We Do
Over the years, Artistic Noise has provided visual arts and entrepreneurship programs for thousands of young people throughout Boston and New York City. Our talented staff of Teaching Artists and licensed Art Therapists use art as a tool for youth to develop their leadership potential and creative abilities. Our participants give voice to their experiences, build community through collaborative projects, and learn valuable life and job skills. Since our inception in 2001, we have conducted numerous programs inside detention facilities and probation centers, in addition to our community program held at our Harlem Storefront Studio. As Artistic Noise enters its 20th year, we have redirected our efforts to develop our community programs in order to push the social justice movement forward. This progressive approach will expand our community to include young people who are not just court-involved, but system-involved, as well as youth underserved due to the constraints of the coronavirus.
