The nsoro Educational Foundation is a nonprofit organization that assists youth aging out of foster care by providing direct academic scholarships and college preparatory programs.
The statistics are grim. With more than 500,000 children in foster care in the United States:
- 50% of former foster youth are homeless within 2 years of leaving the system
- Foster youth experience an average of 12 placements in just 4 years of high school
- 78% of the current death row population spent time in the foster care system
The nsoro Educational Foundation is changing that narrative.
- 78% of nsoro Scholars have never been incarcerated
- 96% of nsoro Scholars have never abused drugs or alcohol
- 92% of nsoro Scholars have never been homeless
- 78% of nsoro Scholars graduate from college compared to the 59% rate for the general population
Our mission is provide every youth aging out of foster care access to a postsecondary education.
