Angel Soto
Transplant Type: Living Donor - Kidney
Angel Soto felt moved to donate one of his kidneys after watching his sister-in-law, Emma, suffer with chronic kidney disease. By donating one of his kidneys, Angel is able to offer Emma a second chance at life. Angel’s wife, Joyce, is supportive of his selfless decision, and the transplant will take place in the near future.
Unfortunately, Angel’s gift of life doesn’t come without its struggles. While the medical costs related to Angel’s donation are covered by Emma’s insurance, he and his wife will still feel a financial impact. Angel works as a teacher’s assistant, and he will have to be off work for up to six weeks without pay following the transplant. The transplant center is more than 500 miles away from Angel’s home, and he will have to stay nearby as he recovers. Angel will also have to travel back and forth for follow up appointments after the transplant.
Angel is thankful for the chance to be of service to his sister-in-law. He views the opportunity as a blessing and believes the entire journey has been the ultimate chance to make a difference in the life of his loved one. Angel has a wonderful foundation of family and friends, and he is thankful for their love and support. He is looking forward to seeing Emma receive her new kidney so that she may be free from her current suffering and start to live her new life.
