New foster and some nibbling on food!

Update posted 5 years ago

Last week we moved Annie to a new foster and brought in another vet partner for a fresh set of eyes on Annie’s case. Annie transitioned to her new home very well. So well that we have some very exciting news to share: Annie has taken a few bites of tuna!!  She’s only eaten about 2 tablespoons of it but it’s a start and we are thrilled!! Her blood work also came back NORMAL so  all our hard work and all your financial support is paying off!! Despite all this happy news, we are still not out of the woods as Annie is not eating enough to sustain herself and she still has the feeding tube  and still needs feeding 3x a day to keep her weight stablized. But hopefully this week we have turned a corner!!

This beautiful 5 year old kitty, Annie, came to Homeward Trails in December 2018. Shortly after she arrived, Annie caught a kitty cold. She went to the vet and started meds but she never improved as we had hoped.  She completely stopped eating and despite additional veterinary follow-ups and medication we just couldn’t get her to eat on her own.  Annie kicked off the new year at an emergency vet after being diagnosed with feline hepatic lipidosis also known as fatty liver disease - when swift action isn’t taken, it’s often fatal. She has a feeding tube inserted, is on intravenous fluids/antibiotics and is being monitored 24/7. Her prognosis is good if we can raise the funds to continue this very expensive care. Please help us raise the necessary money  to ensure Annie gets the medical intervention she needs to survive.

She can still get back to being a normal, cuddly kitty - but she has a long road. Through it all, she’s been a trooper. She knows we won’t give up on her and we know she’s a fighter.
