Antoine Rogers

Transplant Type: Double Lung

Update: Antoine received a double lung transplant on February 23, 2020!

Antoine Rogers is awaiting a new lease on life. Last year, he was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease, an autoimmune disease with no known cause. His diagnosis came as a shock, as there is no family history of lung disease. His lung function has decreased since his diagnosis, and he is now on supplemental oxygen to help him breathe. Doctors say a double-lung transplant is critical for his survival.

During this difficult time, Antoine is thankful for the love and support of his loved ones, including his children and grandchildren. Antoine’s illness causes worry for his family and prevents him from being as active as he longs to be. He looks forward to receiving a transplant that will prolong his life and free him from supplemental oxygen. Antoine enjoys making music, playing with his kids, and spending time with his family, but his health prevents those things now. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can take part in daily activities without so many struggles, breathe freely, and enjoy life with his family. But right now, he needs your help.

The average double-lung transplant costs more than $1 million, and that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Antoine lives 75 miles from his transplant center, and traveling back and forth for appointments gets expensive. When he receives his transplant, he will have to stay nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Antoine’s declining health prevents him from working, further adding to his financial burdens.
