Some Test Results are In
Loki has seen the veterinary behaviorist who ordered tests to see if pain might be causing some of Loki's anxiety and reactivity. It appears he has some hip pain that could be adding to his stress. We'll need additional testing to figure out how best to help him. This poor guy lived most of his life outside in rural Virginia, so moving to a more densely populated area coupled with the blindness in one eye is leading Loki to experience more stress than is healthy. We're dedicated to getting Loki the help he needs to feel more at ease - both mentally and physically. To make that possible, we've update his goal amount.
Loki is a 3 year old special needs dog. He was born blind in one eye and deaf. Loki was raised in rural Virginia around farm animals where he ran free. When Loki arrived at Homeward Trails he was frightened of cars and he needed to learn how to walk on a leash. Loki has been confronted with a lot of changes that can be scary when you're partially blind and deaf. To help with his anxiety, Loki needs a veterinary behavioralist. They're also worried he may be in pain and will need extra tests to determine if there's an underlying condition causing his anxiety. This way we can give Loki all the tools he needs to take on the world and find the right adopter.
