Please join me in supporting J-Sei- a true pillar of the community in the East Bay for over 50 Years!
Since it’s early beginnings in 1971, when a group of Japanese American UC Berkeley students, out of concern for the welfare of Japanese seniors in the community, formed an organization providing bilingual case management services, outings & a nutrition program, JSei’s mission has always remained steadfast- to pass on Nikkei values and traditions through its unique programs and services.
Today, the community that JSei serves has expanded and includes not only seniors and members of Japanese or Asian heritage, but also members of the broader diverse community, for whom JSei’s nurturing values resonates.
My involvement with JSei began in 2017, when I learned about it through a family member. I began volunteering in the kitchen helping to package hot, nutritious Japanese meals and delivering them to seniors. Three years ago, I joined the JSei Board.
Take a peek below at the J-Sei kitchen in action!
Through volunteering and serving on the board, I have become more familiar with the many services and programs offered - the nutrition program, bilingual case management, a friendly visitor registry, engaging classes & workshops, festive community events and a residential care home for seniors. I am amazed at how many families are impacted by JSei!
When I think about the JSei community, it reminds me of a large extended family. In order for the family to thrive and pass on its values to future generations, it must care for and nurture each individual member of the family.
With ongoing sponsorship, this vital non profit will continue to evolve and flourish, providing these crucial supportive services to all members of the community who need them.
Please consider making a donation, of any amount, to J-Sei.
Thank you & take care! - Wendy
