Arthur Stephenson

Transplant Type: Liver

Update: Arthur received a liver transplant on November 16, 2018!

Arthur Stephenson is fighting for his life. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with a life-threatening liver disease. Unfortunately, liver disease runs in his family, as it also impacted his mother. Arthur’s illness leaves him tired and takes a toll on his quality of life. Doctors say a liver transplant is critical to his survival.

During this difficult time, Arthur is grateful for the love and support of his wife, Debbie, and their family and friends. Arthur has two children and two grandchildren, and his family worries about his health. He looks forward to receiving a transplant that will give him back his energy and keep him from being in pain all the time. Arthur used to enjoy traveling to the beach, visiting his grandchildren, and going fishing, but his health and severe edema limits his activities now. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can do mission work again and give back some of what God has given to him. Arthur is ready to put his health issues behind him so he can live life to the fullest and enjoy many years with his family. But right now he needs your help.

The average liver transplant costs approximately $740,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Arthur lives more than an hour away from his transplant center and has to travel back and forth for appointments. When he receives his transplant, he will have to stay nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Arthur’s declining health forced him to drastically reduce his work hours, further adding to his financial burdens.
