10K for EmpowHer

This March I’m running my first 10K… ever! I wasn’t a runner prior to signing up for this race but I was inspired to do something hard, something I didn't think was possible. In the spirit of closing out Women’s History Month with purpose and in service of something bigger, I’m racing in honor of the EmpowHer Institute here in Los Angeles.

EmpowHer is a non-profit organization that empowers girls and young women, age 11-18, in marginalized communities by giving them the skills necessary, through education, training, and mentorship, to become confident, college, and career-ready. 

There’s a nice symmetry to the pairing of the work that EmpowHer is doing - inspiring the spark of what is possible - and my own journey here in accomplishing something that, at times, has felt impossible. I’m thrilled to be partnering with this team of heroes.

I’m no longer running for my own personal achievement but for countless girls and young women and the positive impact that this organization is having on them. Women who are not simply leaders of tomorrow but are leaders of today in their own schools and communities.
