Help Me Support Arkansas Boys State

If someone wrote my story, they would have to include the American Legion Arkansas Boys State program. I have been so honored and elated to be a part of the staff for the past 37 years. In that time, I have met some of the most wonderful people on the planet. The chance and opportunity to share and impart to scholars from all across the great state of Arkansas has been nothing short of amazing. We often say, “It's a week that shapes a lifetime". As the Assistant Director, I have many vivid memories and stories of how Arkansas Boys State has touched so many former delegates of the program, as well as yours truly.

You might ask, "What is Boys State"? Boys State is an immersive week of leadership and civic education. We breathe life into helping young men understand more about local and state government. During the week, delegates are assigned to a political party, city, and county. They are given the opportunity to speak about a variety of compelling topics that provoke thought and discussion. By the end of the week, our students have engaged and chosen a team of leaders to represent them and thus participated in civic engagement firsthand while forming bonds and life-long friendships. 

I am asking my friends, colleagues, and former delegates to join me in giving and ensuring that future students will have the chance to experience Arkansas Boys State. It's simple, I want every student to have the same opportunity to attend Arkansas Boys State no matter their financial situation.  That's why I'm supporting this year's 85th session by helping fund scholarships.
