Ben Did Go 10.0 - Spencer Richley

I started lifeguarding in Newport Beach at age 16. Ben Carlson was an older lifeguard that I looked up to as a friend and mentor. On July 6, 2014, during an abnormally large and turbulent swell, Ben died rescuing a victim. His death was crushing to me, the lifeguard community, and Newport Beach. In his honor, the community established an annual paddle from Catalina to Newport Beach. I will be paddling the 30-mile crossing in Ben's honor. Help me raise money for the Ben Carlson foundation, which provides water safety training, equipment, and scholarships in Newport Beach and around the world.
