The Arts Council is devoting exponential amounts of time, effort and resources to workforce development programs in 2022 and with your support we can create resources, trainings and events that support the arts professional in the River Region.

What exactly does that mean? We're committed to helping professional artists hone their crafts and foster new art careers for emerging arts professionals.

In 2020 we worked with the Community Foundation and the Augusta Cultural Arts Consortium (ACAC) to disburse $50,000 in funds as part of the Artist Emergency Relief Fund. In this funding we realized financially the incredible amount of work our artists do in the River Region and, as part of that, the work that they lost during the early part of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After the funds were dispersed it was heavy in our hearts to redouble our efforts to get all the resources we could for local artists in our community.

These are the projects, fundraisers and events we've programmed to that extent:

- Business of Being an Artist class taught by Staci Swider, in collaboration with the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art
- quarterly shows at the City Gallery and Augusta & Co gallery, a perfect opportunity for local 2D artists to sell their pieces

- Private View quarterly events, each featuring 4-8 local artists from our community
- Wet Paint Party & Art Sale 2020 as the first ONLINE Wet Paint party with sales equivalent to previous in-person Wet Paint parties

- Arts City Festival Fine Arts & Craft Market

While this is a start, we're thrilled to present and take on even more:

- 2022 e-commerce class specifically for artists (dates TBD)

- 2022 marketing class for artists, taught by Staci Swider (dates TBD)

- 2022 in-person Wet Paint Party & Silent Art Auction (Feb. 26)

- quarterly Private View events and gallery shows at both gallery spaces

- Arts in the Heart 2022 Fine Arts & Craft market

- info sessions for local artists who need assistance completing the Arts in the Heart application

- Summer professional development workshops including topics like taxes, grant funds available to artists, business licensing details and arts law advice

These programs are only possible with continued support form our community! Donate today to help the Arts Council support local artists in the River Region.
