Hello friends & family!!
I am so excited to say that I will be co-leading a mission trip to the Bahamas this March! Myself and a group of students from Gordon College have partnered with Praying Pelican to aid in Hurricane Dorian Disaster Relief. If you do not know much about Hurricane Dorian, this hurricane was the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country's history. It was also one of the most powerful hurricanes recorded in the Atlantic Ocean and categorized as a category 5 Hurricane.
Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas on August 24, 2019 and the Bahamian people are working hard to repair and rebuild after this catastrophic natural disaster.
As of right now, it is looking like Praying Pelican will mobilize our team onto the Great Abaco Island, the island that was hit the hardest, to help in the construction/rebuilding efforts. This is the first disaster relief mission trip that Gordon College students have gotten the opportunity to participate in in over 10 years and we are over joyed at this opportunity to serve and show Gods love to The Bahamas.
Any and all financial donations would be greatly appreciated and would help us help the Bahamian people rebuild and bring hope to their country. Most importantly, we ask for your prayers for strength for our team and for faith and hope for those in The Bahamas, and for those in other countries that were also affected by this natural disaster.
With Gratitude,
Sophia Barcelo
