Let’s Help Teens with Disabilities-Support PreETS!

Funds raised through the 2024 Give for Good Louisville campaign will be used to support the Pre-employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program. Pre-ETS provides services designed to make a difference and be an early start at job exploration for students ages 14-21 with disabilities when making the transition to post-secondary education and/or employment. Every Pre-ETS student we serve faces some type of disability including, but not limited to Down Syndrome, Autism, or visual impairment. 

Many times this demographic is overlooked which is why these programs are critically needed! Through the Pre-ETS program, students are given the opportunity to explore career fields with work-based learning field trips, internships, and classroom lessons. They promote an environment of success for exceptional students to plan for the future and prepare for careers that match their skills, abilities, and interests. 

This past year students have been able to gain invaluable knowledge into their futures through partnerships with businesses and organizations our Pre-ETS staff has secured. Some recent work-based learning field trips have taken place at The Shepherd's Criations Alpaca Farm, Top Shine Auto Detailing, ValuMarket, and The Louisville Zoo. 

We have experienced many positives in 2024, but the Pre-ETS program cannot currently reach its full potential. Our students are in need of a reliable, wheelchair-accessible vehicle to transport them between school and their job sites. Securing proper transportation has hindered some students with more exceptional needs from participating in work-based learning field trips and internships. We are asking for your help to ensure never again will a student miss out on an opportunity for their future.
