Dear Family and Friends,
My name is Beau Drew Parkmond, and I’m currently a senior at J.T. Williams Secondary Montessori in Charlotte, North Carolina. I spent the first 13 years of my life in Columbia, South Carolina before moving to Charlotte in 2021. I’m honored to be participating in the Kappa Beautillion Militaire Scholarship Program, an incredible opportunity to raise college scholarship funds while gaining experiences that will prepare me for success in college and in life. As the grandson of a past Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi, I count it a blessing to walk in his legacy and be surrounded by such positive male role models. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to grow and represent my family and community with pride.
Academically, I’ve consistently ranked among the top of my class. I’ve been on the Principles List Honor Roll every year of high school and currently maintain a 4.2 GPA. I take great pride in my education and am committed to continuing this level of excellence.
Outside the classroom, I’m involved in several extracurricular activities. One of the most meaningful is the Beta Club, a prestigious service organization at my school. Through Beta Club, I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer in the community and compete in the National Beta Convention. My school has placed in the top 10 every year I’ve participated, and last year, our Living Literature team placed second in the state. I've also volunteered with local initiatives such as Charlotte trash pickups, Crisis Assistance Ministry, and invasive plant removal efforts.
Music is another passion of mine. Over the past two years, I’ve been selected to perform in honors bands at colleges including UNC and Johnson C. Smith University, where I played first-chair oboe. I also attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s music camp the past 3 years, where I performed in both the band and orchestra.
In addition, I founded the Basketball Club at my school. As the club’s leader, I organize practices, build team spirit, and manage our 12-game season, including a playoff tournament. This role has allowed me to grow as a leader and connect with others through our shared love of the game.
After high school, I plan to pursue a career in technology—specifically in artificial intelligence or software development. My top college choices are North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Duke University.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity. Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to reaching my goal of $2,500. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to support my journey.
With gratitude, Beaux Drew Parkmond
