We are excited to announce a new fundraiser for 2018: BIKE FOR THE BEAN!

Join us for a 45-minute spin ride at CycleBar Livingston as we "Bike for the Bean" on Saturday, July 21st, at 12:30 p.m.!

The Green Bean is a recently-converted school bus that MEND is using to collect and distribute more fresh and healthy food to underserved communities in Essex County, NJ.

MEND will use The  Green  Bean to get more good food to all!

  • Last year, MEND's interfaith network of 17 food pantries provided supplemental food to over 117,000 people in Essex County.
  • Essex County has the highest food insecurity rate in NJ, at 17%.
  • 37% of those served by MEND food pantries are children.
  • Many of MEND's food pantry patrons are the working poor, or those on limited fixed incomes, who don't have enough to make ends meet due to the high cost of living in Essex County.

A suggested donation of $100 gets you a great ride...and also helps MEND buy fresh produce and other nutritious food for the Green Bean to distribute. For $100, MEND can "stuff the Bean" with nearly 320 premium Idaho potatoes, 5 boxes of bananas, or 90 dozen cartons of eggs to distribute to residents of Essex County through our food pantry network!

HOW IT WORKS:

  • DONATE
A suggested donation of $100 reserves a bike, shoe rental, and light refreshments
  • Register

Registration details are in the "update" tab, above.

  •  RIDE
Join us on July 21st at CycleBar Livingston, at 12:30 p.m. and rock your workout while you Bike for the Bean!

Can't join us on July 21st?  You can still support the Green Bean mobile food pantry by making a donation (in any amount) toward our "Bike for the Bean" event!
