For students living in rural Uganda in Central Africa, wasting 3 - 4 hours a day walking in the hot sun to/from school presents a real impediment to their education. By the time they finish morning chores at home and arrive at school, they are usually exhausted and have missed numerous lessons. This sets their education back and sets them up for failure.

Adam Carter and Tim Krick have been close friends since birth, born five days apart. Adam lives in Egypt where he is a history teacher at an international school; he also created the Cause & Affect Foundation, which is a licensed tax-deductible 501-c-3 charity that has been doing humanitarian work around the world for the last 9 years. Tim is a Lutheran pastor in Wisconsin and proud husband and father. On the heels of his latest endeavor, "The Intentional Project" (see blog and Facebook page), these lifelong friends are uniting their efforts to project generosity to the world.

While in Uganda in April on a humanitarian trip, Adam discovered an amazing organization called Coop-Uganda that is delivering well-built bicycles to these students in need. His 7th grade students in Egypt pooled their money together to purchase a bicycle for one lucky student, but there are many more.  Coop-Uganda's social workers have pre-selected many students that are waiting for bicycles to help them advance their education and hopefully help their families climb out of poverty. After interviewing several of them, it is clear that these bicycles will make an immediate impact on their lives!

Each bike is durable and assembled by hand by Coop-Africa's mechanics. For $100, the bicycle will be purchased and delivered to the student when Adam visits on June 2nd.
