This year, the Black Mamas Matter Alliance is excited to be celebrating the fifth anniversary of our national Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) Campaign, held annually from April 11-17! BMMA founded and launched BMHW in 2018 to amplify the many Black women nationwide who are working to improve maternal health, rights, and justice for ALL Black mothers and birthing people.

Each year, Black Maternal Health Week is held during National Minority Health Month, and coincides with the International Day for Maternal Health and Rights on April 11th. The official 2022 BMHW theme is “Building for Liberation Centering Black Mamas, Black Families, and Black Systems of Care,” which centers Black women’s scholarship, maternity care work, and advocacy across the full spectrum of sexual, maternal, and reproductive health care, services, programs, and initiatives.

As we celebrate this milestone year for Black Maternal Health Week, and continue to champion the reproductive rights and health equity of all Black birthing people, we hope that our collective efforts will create even more transformative change. Your support and contributions are essential to helping BMMA and our partners strengthen, expand, and sustain this work for years and generations to come.

Will you join the movement to advance Black maternal health, rights and justice? Please consider making a donation today! No contribution is too small.
