In 2011, my son Finn was born with Down syndrome. In 2012, I got a group of local dads together to play in the Special Olympics NJ Snow Bowl flag football tournament at MetLife Stadium. Our team, the Shark Finns, is named after Finn. Eight years later, we are still going strong and doing our best to raise money and awareness for this amazing organization. Please consider a donation to the Special Olympics NJ, which supports the 25,000 youth and adult athletes with intellectual disabilities in their training, competition, and success on the field and life, including the Special Olympics Young Athletes program at the Communty Center in Cranford for children with special needs from 2-7 years old.
Looking for a 5k to help run off the extra helping of stuffing, mashed potatoes, and apple pie? Join us on the Memorial Field Track for a 3.21 mile run/walk (about 13 laps) at 11:45am (immediately following yoga at the track by Home Yoga). The 3.21 mile distance is a 5K (plus .11 miles) to symbolize the third copy of chromosome 21 in Trisomy 21, the most common form of Down syndrome.
