Empower Baltimore on Giving Tuesday

When you visit the ToolBank, you may walk in the door thinking about shovels, drills, rakes, saws and landscaping tools. When you leave though, you’ll likely be thinking about social justice and how the community sector deserves enhanced access to resources.

If you are reading this, you have a chance to be part of our movement to create enhanced access to tools, equipment and expertise for our community partners. This targeted campaign runs from now through Giving Tuesday 11/28/23. We are ambitious to aim at $7,500 in total giving. You can play a small or large part in realizing this ambition!

Support for our core tool lending program allows us to empower partners with the tools they need to achieve their most ambitious community goals across a diversity of neighborhoods from Baltimore to Washington, D.C. As weather events become more intense, we've also sent tools and staff to national disaster relief zones including Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico and the Carolinas.

Your donation in any amount will echo throughout our partner network, which includes veterans working in food justice, teachers as they paint their classrooms, animal shelters as they host adoption events, and so much more. We loan tools to these partners from a sustainable warehouse in SW Baltimore City. Sizable rain gardens and stormwater management features allow us to save more than 1 million gallons of stormwater pollution from the Chesapeake watershed every year!

As the needs of our shared community are diverse, so are our partners. The beauty of giving to the ToolBank is that you support us and other organizations across a diversity of causes at the same time. Without stepping in front of those we serve, we know our tools are used by students, veterans, and organizations that combat food insecurity, illiteracy, and other entrenched problems throughout our shared community. We meet the moment by providing the resources our partners need to serve on the frontlines during times of protracted crisis. We also serve partners during acute crises, as remains  the case in this phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
