I began cycling 10 years ago out of necessity and as time went on the more I rode the more I realized I really love to ride! Riding provides me with a sense of freedom i don't get any other way. I can ride for hours, alone with my thoughts, pondering many different subjects.

This year will mark the 7th time I've ridden in El Tour de Tucson and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. It all started 6 years ago when I rode the 42 mile leg of the Tour with team Beads of Courage. It was a great learning experience but only the beginning for me....

I went on to ride with team BoC In the next two Tours increasing the mileage on my third attempt to 55 miles. It was a very successful but very wet ride being the only time in the Tours history it has rained on race day.

I went on to ride in the next three El Tours for myself, for the love of the ride.  For the fourth ride I did the 55 mile event again, without the rain this time, and well surpassed my previous efforts. The following year I upped the millage yet again participating in the events 75 mile ride and completed it in decent time (for a mountain bike).

The 6th time I rode in El Tour de Tucson I participated in the 106 mile event. I completed my ride but the time was much slower than I had expected it to be at 8 hours and 49 minutes. This time around I hope to come in under 7 hours on my heavy old mountain bike.

This year will be my 7th time participating in El Tour de Tucson and I'm happy to be riding for such a wonderful organization like Arts Express. They care so much for the under privileged youth in our community and strive to bring their love of art and theater to everyone. Let's go team Cycle 4 the Arts!
