Bong Manyang

Transplant Type:   Liver

What if you were living on borrowed time?

Bong Manyang has been given a second chance at life. Her journey began in 2019, when she had more than 10 visits to the emergency room due to stomach issues and uncontrollable vomiting.  Doctors thought the problem was her appendix, but after having it removed, her issues continued.  Finally, it was found that the supplements she was taking to cleanse her colon had damaged her liver, causing it to fail. She also developed hepatitis E, which is extremely rare to contract in North America. Doctors said a liver transplant was critical for her survival. Thankfully, after only one day on the list, Bong received her liver transplant on July 21, 2021!

During such a challenging time, Bong is thankful to be surrounded by a strong support system. Her family and friends have been by her side every step of the way providing much needed love, encouragement, and support. While it’s been very hard for Bong and her loved ones, these circumstances have also brought them closer together, strengthened their trust in each other and in God, and given them perspective on what matters most in life. Before her health began to decline, Bong enjoyed teaching yoga, being a swimsuit model, and being active, but her health condition forced her to adjust to an entirely new lifestyle.   Bong looks forward to recovering from her transplant so that she can live her life fully again.  More than anything, she wants to share her journey with the world, but right now, she needs your help.

Unfortunately, Bong’s new life comes at a very high price.

Even though Bong’s surgery has already taken place, and her insurance will cover a portion of the transplant costs, she still faces significant medical expenses related to the surgery. To keep her new liver healthy, Bong will continue to need a lifetime of follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. These medications are extremely expensive and are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Bong.

If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125.  Please be sure to write "in honor of Bong Manyang” in the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
