Bently is an amazing 7 year old with a huge heart . He has a twin brother and an 8 year old sister whom he is very close with. He was very active and played football for his local little league ( northview little league 💚💛 #go cougars) Bently was diagnosed with ADHD, mild to moderate autism and about 6 months ago multifical epilepsy. The epilepsy diagnoses flipped our life's upside down but we are fighting and taking it day by day. A week or so into school being out due to Covid 19 Bently started what we thought were clusters of twitches. These twitches got worse and worse everyday and we grew more concerned. He was referred to Childrens Nuerology where they performed a short EEG and an MRI. His nuerologist said that his EEG results were " crazily abnormal and that this was a very interesting case." Thankfully the MRI came back normal so that ment no malformation or growth on his brain. Since the diagnosis it has been a struggle trying to find the right combination of medication to control his seizure activity and we were told we may never find it . He has went from my energetic and happy boy to sleeping and feeling " yucky " most days. He has his good days but he also has plenty bad days as well . We have had to change how and what we do as a family and that is sometimes hard for him and his siblings to understand. He cant be around flashing lights or events that over stimulate him. His seizure trigger list grows everyday. School work has been a struggle due to him falling so far behind from bad or recover days . At times we are lucky if he is awake for atleast half of the day. 4 paws for ability has approved Bently for a seizure service dog. This will give us peace of mind along with comfort for him during all of the bad days. The service dog will be a great blessing for Bently in more ways then i can list emotionally and physically. The opportunity for Bently to receive a service dog however is very expensive. It will cost 4 Paws for Ability $40,000-$60,000 to train a service dog for Bently and 4 paws asks each family to raise $17,000 of that cost. Any help or donation toward this blessing is more then appreciated. Our family is extremely grateful for all of the love and support Bently has and continues to receive.
