Hello friends! I am fundraising for the Environmental Educators of North Carolina and would love your help. Do you remember a childhood filled with nature? I certainly do. Much of my time growing up was spent climbing trees, catching fireflies, and hiking through forests. Imagine a world where children do not have these experiences. Today’s youth are one of the first generations to grow up almost entirely indoors. They spend up to 27% of their time in front of screens and only 1% outdoors. click the “donate” button at the top right of this page to join me. They suffer from increased obesity, asthma, Attention Deficit Disorder, and allergies more than any other generation. Today's children have lost their connection with the natural world. I believe in environmental education because it can help them regain that connection and build critical thinking skills needed to address complex issues.
Today, teaching in the outdoors is one of my great passions in life. I enjoy taking people to new places and helping them learn about the plants, animals, and landforms found there. I have been blessed to be a professional environmental educator and I want to help ensure that future generations of children will play, explore, and learn about the outdoors just as I did.
This is an organization I believe in. I have served on the EENC Board since 2013 in several positions - President-elect, President, Past-President, Western Section Coordinator, and Partnership Chair. Environmental Education is on the upswing and gaining support at the state and federal level, and EENC wants to be a leader in North Carolina and the southeast!
Now, here’s the part where you can join me in making this happen on a bigger scale. As a part of my job, I have the privilege of serving on the Board for the Environmental Educators of North Carolina as Piedmont Section Chair. We are a non-profit dedicated to environmental education in our state through professional development, networking, and partnership.
From November 20th to January 1st, EENC is trying to raise $12,000 to provide professional development and networking opportunities for educators and supporting partnerships for environmental education organizations in NC. I have set my personal fundraising goal to $5,000. There are consequences to reaching this goal but I believe in the cause. 😊 If I reach it, I will participate in a polar plunge in mid-winter at our Board retreat 😨 . I hope medics will be standing by.
I am asking you to give to EENC, so we can insure a world where children have these opportunities. If you have had past experiences that helped shape your love for our natural world, please consider supporting our mission with a donation of any amount. Thank you for your support!
