Bread for the City Hunger Helpers

Bread for the City needs your help to provide over 9,000 low income DC residents with the ingredients to make a healthful and delicious holiday meal this season!

There’s nothing more emblematic of the holidays than sitting down to enjoy a large meal surrounded by those you love most. For most of us, it’s tradition. But to our poorest neighbors here in the District of Columbia, a holiday meal is a luxury they simply cannot afford. That’s where Bread for the City steps in to help. Through our annual Holiday Helpings campaign, we strive to ensure that the city’s poor can also share in the celebration of the holidays.

“When I was growing up, the only time we ever had a holiday meal with a turkey was when my mom got one from Bread for the City. Without that help, we never would have had a real Thanksgiving.”
