Brenda Long Winstead
Transplant Type: Kidney
Update: Brenda received a transplant on January 22, 2020!
Brenda Winstead is awaiting a new lease on life. In 2013, she was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease (PKD), a hereditary illness. Brenda now faces kidney failure, and her condition leaves her tired and takes a toll on her quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant is critical.
During this difficult time, Brenda is thankful for the love and support of her fiancé, Denny, her daughter, Allison, and her family and friends. Brenda’s illness has caused her loved ones a lot of stress and worry. She looks forward to receiving a transplant that will give her back her energy and allow her to feel like herself again. Brenda wants nothing more than to be healthy so she can enjoy an active life with her family. But right now, she needs your help.
The average kidney transplant costs more than $414,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Brenda still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
Brenda lives more than an hour away from her transplant center, and traveling back and forth can be expensive. When she receives her transplant, she will have to stay nearby while she recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Brenda. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Kentucky Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Brenda Winstead” on the memo line.
