ABC House is the only child abuse intervention center in Benton and Linn counties. Centers like ABC House are the most effective means of ensuring that children are not further traumatized by the system that was designed to protect them. 

Since opening in 1997, the number of children ABC House serves has increased substantially. Due to an inadequate space, there are delays of 2-3 weeks for interviews, medical exams and trauma counseling. The sooner abuse is identified, the sooner the child can be protected and begin to heal. A new facility will enable ABC House to meet the increased demand, with room to grow.

ABC House purchased an existing two-story commercial building in Albany to provide the square footage needed to meet the increasing needs of abused and neglected children of all ages. The existing space will be renovated in order to bring this older facility up to standards for its successful operation and to comply with current building and ADA codes. 

A larger facility will eliminate delays and allow:

-More families in the building receiving services at the same time without compromising their confidentiality and privacy.
- Simultaneous medical exams and interview appointments for assessments of twice as many children, evaluating concerns of abuse without delay.
- Triple the number of trauma counseling appointments so children and families can begin to heal more quickly.
- Increased training opportunities for medical students, residents, and interns from local undergraduate college programs. 

How You Can Help

What options do I have for my capital campaign payment?
Gifts can come in multi-year pledges, personal checks or credit card payments, and can be customized by the donor. Gifts of appreciated stock may allow a donor to avoid a capital gains tax in addition to receiving a charitable income tax deduction. Gifts from donor advised funds and family foundations are also accepted. 

How can I donate through an IRA distribution?
When you make a gift directly from your IRA you take advantage of the IRA Charitable Rollover. The donation counts are your required minimum distribution but does not increase your adjusted gross income. To make a directed gift to ABC House, contact the custodian of your IRA. ABC House staff will provide you with our tax ID number.
