Please understand that you will be helping pay it forward to a family we don’t know and for a wig for a person we don’t know.  My family or my brother’s family will not benefit in any way.

Thank you for helping to provide assistance to people who hear the 7 words that Bob said no one should hear “You have ALS, there is no cure.”

But there is help and understanding

Hello Friends!

It’s been a year. I might now frighten children, distract drivers or collapse under the sheer weight of my mop, not to mention the burden of upkeep.

You can help me end the madness. By supporting "Buzz Off ALS" you can advance the common good by harvesting my flowing grey locks. More important, we will create and donate a real wig for somebody with real need for one through Hair We Share. And most importantly, we will generate financial support for The Joe Martin ALS Foundation.

The Joe Martin ALS Foundation wonderfully supported my brother, Bob Taylor, and his wife, Jane, during Bob’s struggle with ALS. I decided to set up “Buzz Off ALS” with the foundation to help fund support for more families stricken by ALS who need help managing through this life-altering disease.  The Foundation can support one family for one year at a cost of $5,000. That covers ALS-specialized in-home care, transportation, advice, guidance, and equipment. These services are provided absolutely free to families affected by ALS.

You can learn more about The Joe Martin ALS Foundation by visiting their website here: www.joemartinalsfoundation.org

I have set $5,000 as a fundraising goal to be accomplished from now until June 2nd, to coincide with the recently-declared Lou Gherig's Day by Major League Baseball, since both Lou and Bob were talented first basemen. I invite you to help me reach my goal of covering a full year of free, ALS-specialized care by The Joe Martin ALS Foundation for one family in need. The cut hair will go to Hair We Share, a donation shop. They will take the mess to go through the process of creating a wig for someone in need. I will pay Hair We Share a small fee to track the progress of creating the wig, and we will be able to see what my flowing locks become for someone else who needs them.

I intend for this to become a meaningful haircut.

Here is how to help:

Simply donate through this fundraising page, using the link above.

You can also share the link to this page, and help me spread the word on social media to get more folks involved.

Goal: $5000+

We will cut the hair online on Wednesday, June 2nd at 9:24 AM (09/24 was also Bob's birthday). I will share a link to the live online event closer to June 2nd.

Thank you in advance for your support.  If you have some extra hair due to COVID-19, and wish to "BuzzOffALS" please join in!
