SWAB Event Day 2020- Katie Devine

     Shop with a Bulldawg has been an important part of my college career.  This year I am serving on the executive board for Shop with a Bulldawg as the Director of Mentees. This means that I work very closely with the local Athens elementary schools to invite the elementary students to this years event and coordinate with their family engagement specialist to ensure everything runs smoothly. 

     As an organization, we work to recruit college mentors who work with a partner to raise $120 to take a child, affected by poverty, from the Athens community holiday shopping. We make a whole day out of it with breakfast, shopping, wrapping, and games for everyone. This is what our normal event day looks like, but this year with Covid-19 present, it will look a little different. 

     We will still be having our event this year, but we will be having 2 events, one for the college mentors to shop and one for the mentees. We will host a drive-thru in which the children that we can invite will show up to receive their gifts that their awesome mentor shopped for a week in advance! 

      This year I understand is hard for a lot of people, but any donation would be greatly appreciated to help us put on the best Event Day possible this year! Thank you!
