Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) is holding a “virtual run” to support study abroad scholarships for Students of Color and other underrepresented groups. The Equal Access Run will take place the week of September 7, with runners completing their fundraising and sharing their stories on September 12. Runners are invited to run (or walk!) 10K or any distance that presents a personal challenge, and to fundraise to meet a stretch goal.

The mission of FEA is to diversify the face of study abroad to reflect the rich diversity of the United States, and we are proud that 94% of our last cohort identified as Students of Color. FEA has awarded 590 scholarships totaling $2.1 million over the last ten years. But in this moment of compounding crises, including a global pandemic and a reckoning of racial inequity, we need to do more. Let’s use this fall’s “pause” to ensure that when study abroad comes back, it will be more accessible than ever, with more scholarship funding available for Black, Latinx, and other underrepresented students.

FEA has awarded $2.1 million in scholarships to 590 traditionally underrepresented students in study abroad.

FEA gives preference to students in financial need, students of color, community college, and first-generation college students (all groups traditionally underrepresented in study abroad).

In FEA's most recently awarded cohort, 88% were first-generation college students, 94% of scholars identified as students of color, and 35% were attending or transferred from community college.
