Cagney and Lacey are two precious 8 month old Beagle pups that were found wandering along a road in rural VA. These cuties are lucky they didn't get hit by a car! We aren't sure how they ended up as strays, but hunting dogs are very common in the area they were found so it is possible that they got away from becoming hunting dogs. Life for a hunting dog can be tough - living outside, tied up most of the time or in a cage, only getting out to run a few times a month and then back to a life of solitude. As sad as it is that these two were found as strays, they likely were getting away from a very stressful life. Unfortunately, even though they are no longer strays, shelter life isn't much better. They now spend their days in cement dog runs. Adopters at the shelter are few and far between, and Cagney and Lacey have seen one too many dogs take their final walk, which doesn't end up in the arms of a loving new family. Please don't let these pups spend the rest of their days in the shelter. Their only hope is Homeward Trails, but HT can only commit to taking these two if their sponsorship is covered. Will one or both get left behind? We are trying our best to make sure both of their transportation is covered, but we are depending on donations to make their rescue a reality!
