Help us bring life sustaining medicine to children in rural communities of hurricane weary Honduras.

When I was a very young child, my family moved to Virginia Beach and became neighbors and fast friends to a family named the Cooks.  When my Dad deployed to Vietnam, the Cook family looked after my mom, brother and me until he safely returned.  While my family continued to move every few years, our friendship with the Cook family was a constant in my life.  Mr. Cook, a Methodist Minister, married my husband Neil and me in 1992  and when he founded the Friends of Barnabas in 2000, my parents were two of the first board members.  I joined the board in March of this year.

The Friends of Barnabas brings medical care to children in poor rural communities of Central Honduras.  During Covid, our team on the ground in Honduras has made sure that the 240 children in our extended care program continue to receive life sustaining medications each month.  They've also pivoted from in-person clinics to WhatsApp videos providing education to our 30 partner communities.

In recent weeks, Honduras has endured not one but two hurricanes causing flooding, mudslides and road destruction.  Covid was already making life more difficult for mountain communities but these storms have left many without homes.  Our Giving Tuesday goal is  $20,000.  Will you join me in supporting their work?  You can learn more and help by visiting: https://www.mightycause.com/story/Fob
