Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, Inc. opened its doors on November 4, 2014 with one nurse practitioner and one front office employee.

After six years providing medical and mental health care, we now have three nurse practitioners, two mental health counselors, and six support staff taking care of the minds, bodies, and spirits of newborns through elderly that call this their medical home.

Our mission is to provide affordable, quality healthcare to the under-insured and uninsured in Southwest Florida. Our clinic provides integrated primary care behavioral health services through the promotion of holistic wellness education and disease prevention in a Christ-centered environment.

With the current events in the United States and the world, the need for mental and behavioral health counseling has increased. Children are often not able to access quality mental health care due to financial burdens their families face. This year we started a fund to provide children and adolescents counseling at no cost if they cannot afford the small fee for service. Working with Valerie's House, another local non-profit organization where children find help in dealing with grief, we have seen an increase in the need for mental health care in Southwest Florida.

To continue our mission, we will be offering play therapy for those children under age seven. Play therapy is designed for children to express the feelings that they may not be able to verbally articulate to a counselor. This therapy requires a room with the appropriate toys, furniture, craft projects, and other items necessary to encourage the child to play.  Our counselors will also be gaining further education become certified play therapists. Paying for this new program requires additional funds, so the mission continues!
